Launching with a promotional campaign in 2016, Modal started out as just an idea, and now five years later Greenville’s First hostel has made its debut and made global news in FORBES magazine as a 2021 HOSCAR Award Winner for Extraordinary Inclusive Hostel by Hostelworld.com. Owners Joe Hindman and David Stone Jr. have poured their personal passion into this project and worked hard to create a truly unique lodging experience for travelers from across the world. Joe Hindman
Owner / Founder
After spending a decade in corporate marketing & design, Joe launched Modal as his interpretation of an American hostel experience. The concept stems from his personal passions for art, travel, people, and great coffee.
Mikayla Cooper
Assistant Manager
With a stellar track record in guest services and food service, Mikayla brings a personal touch to the Modal experience. When she’s not slinging latte art on the bar, she’s DJing at local music venues or working on a new indie film.
